Tory Lanez has been charged with an assault over a woman in the Hollywood Hills, that woman is Megan Thee Stallion.
On Thursday (Oct. 8), the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office announced that the 28-year-old rapper, born Daystar Peterson, has been charged with one felony count of assault with a semiautomatic firearm and one count of carrying a loaded, unregistered firearm in a vehicle.
He also faces a gun allegation and that he personally inflicted great bodily injury.
The charges follow a dispute involving Tory and Megan, who is referred to as a “female friend,” while riding in an SUV in the Hollywood Hills on July 12. Tory is accused of shooting her several times in the feet as she was exiting the vehicle.
The announcement also reads:
“On July 12, the defendant and the 24-year-old victim got into an argument while riding in an SUV in the Hollywood Hills. The victim exited the vehicle and Peterson is accused of shooting several times at her feet and wounding her. If convicted as charged, the defendant faces a possible maximum sentence of 22 years and eight months in state prison. The case remains under investigation by the Los Angeles Police Department, Hollywood Division.”
This follows the release of a new album alleging he wasn’t involved in the incident which the female rapper has spoken publicly about. Following the incident on July 12, Megan didn’t speak out right away.
Lanez was arrested that evening in Hollywood for possessing a concealed weapon. Megan and two others were in the vehicle during his arrest.
If convicted of the assault, Tory Lanez will face a maximum sentence of 22 years and eight months in state prison. He is scheduled to be arraigned on Oct. 13.
