The Lion King Trailer Rakes In 224.6 Million Global Views In 24 Hours

Disney’s 90-second teaser trailer for its upcoming “The Lion King” remake has become the second biggest one day debut ever, with 224.6 million views worldwide.

That number placed it behind just the first trailer for “The Avengers: Infinity War,” which was watched 238 million times in 24-hour following its own debut in 2017. Excited by the milestone, Disney took to its social media pages and dropped a simple post that thanked the “entire pride” for a successful debut.

To our entire pride: Thank you for helping the teaser trailer for The Lion King become the most-viewed Disney trailer debut ever as it reached a record-breaking 224.6 million global views in 24 hours!

Directed by Jon Favreau, the live-action adaptation will star the voices of Donald Glover as Simba, Beyonce Knowles-Carter as Simba’s friend-turned-love interest Nala, James Earl Jones as Mufasa and Chiwetel Ejiofor as Scar. Seth Rogen, Keegan-Michael Key, John Oliver, Billy Eichner and John Kani also star.

The new “Lion King” will hit theaters on July 19, 2019.
