Ella Mai Tops Most Time At No. 1 as Only Female R&B/Hip-Hop Singer/Songwriter

While she’s previously become the first woman to top three R&B/Hip-Hop charts since Beyoncé‘s “Love On Top,” newcomer Ella Mai is now the only woman, within the mixed genre, to have had her hits sit at No.1. on the Billboard chart as the longest since Alicia Keys.

Although Ashanti logged the most time, with 18 weeks thanks to Ja Rule‘s “Always on Time” and her own “Foolish,” Ella logged a 16-week stay earlier this year with her hit track “Boo’d Up.”

Additionally, her latest, “Trip,” has amassed 17 weeks so far, meeting Alicia’s 2004 run of 17 weeks with “You Don’t Know My Name,” “If I Ain’t Got You” and “My Boo,” featuring Usher.

As of late, the songstress released her first studio album, self-titled. Click here to listen.
