Drake acknowledged he’s had a huge impact on the global recognition of Afrobeats

Drake talks about the impact the songs he recorded with Wizkid such as One Dance and Come Closer had on popularizing Afrobeats globally.

The OVO honcho disclosed this during his recent lengthy interview with Rap Radar where he talked about squashing beef with The Weeknd, discusses his biggest music hit of his career; God’s Plan, Pusha T, Kanye West, Jay Z amongst several others.

Having being inspired by several genres in the likes of Funk, Dancehall and so on, Afrobeats is definitely no exception. Even though he won’t discriminate that those songs he recorded with Wizkid are only the best Afrobeat songs, but he does believe that the genre deserves to be this popular now.

This one minute statement of his may however be true, having several iota of truths surrounding it, as it gains several mixed reactions from both artistes on social media.

Wizkid’s success may have thrived on this unique feature afterall, one’s independence requires a dependent entity to stay afloat.
