Lil Nas X “Old Town Road” Becomes Billboard’s Longest No. 1 Single Ever

Congrats bruv..

No even the other spots of the Billboard charts other than no. 1 can tell him nothing. For its 17th week in a row, Lil Nas X’ hit “Old Town Road” reigns supreme on the Hot 100, making it the longest running no. 1 single in Billboard history.

Its previous record at 16 weeks were held by Mariah Carey and Boyz II Men’s “One Sweet Day” back in 1995 and Luis Fonsi’s “Despacito” featuring Daddy Yankee and Justin Bieber in 2017.

Lil Nas X’ country-rap phenomenon began initially as a viral dance on the TikTok app. In April, Billboard announced the song was ineligible for the country charts, which soon led to country legend Billy Ray Cyrus hopping on the remix.

Earlier this month, the single went diamond, becoming the first since Elton John’s “Candle In The Wind” to achieve the certification while at the top of the Billboard Hot 100.

In June, the 20 year-old rapper from Atlanta released his 7 EP and has since then dropped another remix featuring Young Thug and Mason Ramsey.
