5 Movies Coming To Netflix: The giant online movie streaming cinema has taken movies to a whole new level and they are ready to take things even further as they have a number of interesting movies scheduled for release in the last quarter of 2018.

A lot of big budget movies and traditional romantic comedies have made their way to Netflix over the years, but the new original films they are creating seem ready to take things to newer levels. Here are a few key standout movies you definitely don’t want to miss.

    1 ROMA

Alfonso Cuarón is the writer and director behind Roma which has been described as his most personal project yet. Roma follows a young domestic worker for a family in the Roma area of Mexico City.

The story is said to describe part of Cuarón’s own childhood, as he used it to inform the story. Roma is getting a limited theatrical release in December, which means there may be some potential for it when the awards season come around.

2 Birdbox

Sandra Bullock is another talented actress, producer and director that is scheduled to jump on Netflix original movies. She will be appearing on the streaming service in the supernatural thriller Birdbox.

The film will follow Bullock as the mother of two children, all of whom are navigating a post-apocalyptic world while blindfolded because catching sight of some mysterious force means certain death.

Asides Bullock, the cast also includes Sarah Paulson, Lil Rel Howery, and John Malkovich. With a screenplay by Eric Heisserer, who previously adapted Arrival, the movie certainly has a lot of promise. The release date has been set for the 21st of December.

3 Apostle

The movie Apostle is a horror-thriller which stars Beauty and the Beast’s Dan Stevens as a man trying to rescue his sister from a religious cult led by Michael Sheen in 1905 London.

Gareth Evans seats in the directors chair and if he is able to replicate what he did for action in the movie “The Raid”, we could be in for something that completely turns the genre on its head. It could be the perfect Halloween treat for horror lovers as it is scheduled to be released on October 12.

4 22 July

22 July is a film that is based on the story surrounding the aftermath of the deadliest terrorist attack in the history of Norway, on July 22, 2011. What sets this movie apart from the pack is the fact that it’s directed by Paul Greengrass, the man behind the similarly themed United 93 as well as the majority of the Jason Bourne movies.

Greengrass just recently joined the impressive list of actors, producers and directors churning out movies for Netflix. This alone makes July 22 a good movie to watch, especially if the antecedents of the director is anything to go by. The movie is scheduled to be released on the 1st of October.

5 The Other Side Of The Wind

The Other Side Of The Wind

The Other Side of the Wind is one of the more remarkable films coming from Netflix, despite the fact that it is an old movie. Orson Welles shot the film on and off between 1970 and 1976 but due to various production issues, and, eventually the death of Welles himself, the film was never completed and never released.

However, some years ago, producer Frank Marshall began to attempt to reconstruct The Other Side of the Wind into a finished movie. Now, the film is finally ready to be seen by the public after almost 50 years. It is scheduled to hit Netflix in November.
